There are thousands of Americans that are finding themselves under stress based on the weekly news of the mortgage and housing market going south. There are various parts of the country that are harder hit than others like in Florida where the market was oversold and the housing market is now feeling the effects. Now is the time to find bargains as rates are dipping down thanks to the fed cutting the rates allowing home buyers to lock in at a better rate. Do yourself a favor and help to keep your stress low can be accomplished by looking for property and homes near the coast line like in the Corpus Christi real estate market. This is a beautiful area and one that I have visited when we lived in Texas. The Gulf of Mexico provides warm currents and the city is located close to Houston for all the big city amenities.

This past week I had to pay a visit to the urgent care because I had an accident with our box cutter as I was breaking down boxes. I felt quite silly since the cut did not seem deep but it would not stop bleeding. The nurse came in and looked and said that it would require stitches and then she asked me when my last tetanus shot was. I could not tell her. I believe it was back before college, but was not sure. She was quite amazed and said that I was due and especially with a cut caused by metal I was at greater risk to develop an infection. So now I am more careful and good for another 5 years until I am due for my next shot.

This past few weeks we have a seen a flury of stories surrounding some of baseballs best athletes denying their use of performance enhancing drugs. I find it quite interesting that we need a congressional hearing to determine whether Roger Clemens used HGH, legal steroids, or some other form of enhancing drug. I feel that this should be something between the players and the league and not between the US government. For many kids and young adults playing in organized sports they look up to these athletes and model their behavior which could be dangerous if they are trying to find a short cut to improving their performance. Using approved methods to increase strength and speed is the best option in the long run.

When is the last time that you checked your home owner insurance policy? We had our insurance agent go over our policy to make sure that we had the best comprehensive coverage. He was able to uncover a missing item that would have cost us approx. $10K extra if our house were to suffer water damage due to freezing pipes. This was an adjustment that we were looking since several of our neighbors had been telling us that they had a pipe burst and not all of their insurance would cover the costs. This got us thinking and had our policy reviewed. There are items that your agent will talk to you about and not all of them will be needed but make sure that you look at all your options before checking the no box.
