Posted by Jeff R On March - 1 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Electrical power is essential to any business to operate on a daily business. There are some new forms of energy that are coming online that promise to be more environmentally friendly and more efficient. One of those is wind power. This is where they build these huge windwill devices on top of hills and then the wind generates the current which is stored out to central sites to be used by businesses and consumers. There are numerous industrial supplies that go into building these large sources of energy. With the new power coming online it is essential for all the electronics that we have to ensure a clean power source.

Getting your new HDTV for the 2010 SuperBowl

Posted by Jeff R On February - 3 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

If you are looking to get a new HDTV to watch the 2010 Super Bowl then you want to make sure you know what you are getting. I would caution anyone looking to hook up their new PS 3 to and HDTV that you are better off with LCD technology as the plasma set will look a little granular if there is a lot of action scenes. Playstation just recently reduced their price to try and stay competitive with the xbox and the Wii.

With all the game day specials the biggest gift this year will be a new HDTV for most people. It is important to remember that choosing the technology will depend on how intend on using the TV. If you are in to movies and shows then plasma has some of the deeper blacks, but if you are using gaming purposes then you may want to consider LCD. The reason is that you will see some pixels on a plasma TV with fast images unlike more of a consistent image with LCD.

Upgrading your TV

HDTV’s have become one the hottest electronic products in 2007 and will be on the top of many peoples lists for Christmas. Some of the larger big box stores recently announced that they would no longer carry any analog tv’s and have only digital high definition sets available. The quality has gone up and the price has gone down on HD tvs from makers like Sharp, Samsung, and Toshiba. With the various technologies like plasma, LCD, and DLP a customer has a lot of choices. One of the key things is to make sure that you look for the HDTV as the EDTV will give you a great picture but may not have the quality of a true HDTV. And lastly make sure that you have High definition cable to receive the true HD picture. If you are only receiving the standard signal over your HDTV you will not be happy with picture.

Grabbing your business insurance

Posted by Jeff R On October - 24 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

The economy is struggling and people all over the country don’t have the extra money like they once did. People that own businesses that sell us products or provide us services are seeing this and many of the things they offer are getting cheaper. You might not find this everywhere right now, but if they want to stay in business you will see prices dropping across the board. Even business insurance is starting to see some competitive pricing as insurers are looking to hang onto their customers and not risk losing additional revenue.

Health insurance marketing

You can expect as the Health Reform bill makes it way through the House and Senate that there will be a greater focus from the Health insurance marketing world to help consumers understand what is at risk and what they can expect if and when the bill is passed. Many of the large insurance carriers have made it known that if a health bill like the one being proposed is passed insurance premiums will go up which is not exactly what government was hoping for. The idea is that with a more freedom to compete that co-pays and insurance costs would go down and this may not actually be the case. They still have a ways to go to settle on one bill but the overall impact on the health care sector and insurance world is yet to be seen.

Are LED tail lights safer

Posted by Jeff R On October - 5 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

led_BMWWe were looking at some of the newer offerings from CariD around their led tail lights and the comparable safety and function as compared to regular headlights. There are no specific studies or recommendations that we could find other than some specific facts. Since LED tend to burn brighter and longer you could have less of a chance of failure. The LED lights themselves have a different look to them and could gain your attention faster if you see them on the car in front of you. I know that we have certainly noticed LED lights on cars and they definitely gain your attention.

The health of the big box stores

Posted by Jeff R On May - 29 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

With the recent closure of Circuit City stores there has left a big gap to fill for those that are looking for TV’s, computers, and other electronics. We just received an email that the company that bought out the Circuit City name and inventory to liquidate is now going to re-open their website with the name and brand intact. This is an interesting development and we are not sure what to make of this development yet. We do know that online sites like buy.com have stepped up their offerings and have a long solid history of providing top quality products with great service. As to the health of the big box stores there may be a few more looking to enhance their online presence in order to stay competitive in this challenging market.

Starting a healthy business

To be successful in starting your business their are three words that are essential. Location. Location. Location.. At least this is what they taught us in business school a few years back and for the most part it still holds true. Today you have the internet and the vast marketplace that it offers if you still have a brick and mortar location you want to make sure that you can capture the sale and seamlessly keep track of your inventory and costs. That is why investing in a good POS systems can help you manage cost and provide better customer service. This is true because you can see what levels of inventory you have and which products are the most profitable. And since many of these systems are driven by a PC having them connected to your online store and integrated can be a key to a healthy start to a business.

vesselIf you are thinking about updating your home the one area that can get great returns on your investment is your kitchen. Done right with some of the new Stone vessel sinks you will be amazed at what some simple updates can do to transform your kitchen. Most kitchens have the standard porcelain sink which is fine and very durable, but adding a stone sink can increase the value and overall look of your bathroom or kitchen. Since the kitchen is one room that you spend a lot of time when you have guests over just adding some unique touches can really create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere.

Health of your IT infrastructure

kvmFor many companies they are looking to maintain the health of their company through efficiencies in their IT department. By upgrading their KVM switches they can help speed up their networks and provide an extra layer of security which in turn can help improve overall productivity. Large scale servers are now able to handle larger volumes of traffic allowing companies to be able to keep more of their server space onsight and not housed with an outside vendor. This not only increases security but can actually help with the bottom line as you have a tigher control of your IT expenses.

Are Plasma TVs reaching their end

Posted by Jeff R On April - 13 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

I read an interesting report the other week that Panasonic will be ramping down their plasma TV line in exchange for their more advanced LCD TV offerings. Those does not mean that all plasma TVs will become obsolete because their is still a huge market for them. As a matter of fact you are actually seeing them branch into larger screens which is a limitation of LCD TVs at the moment. So finding a plasma tv mount that will accommodate these larger models will come into high demand as the market broadens and the large screen models start to drop in price.

Jobs in healthcare IT

In the health care there is a lot of uncertainty as to what the new administration is going to do and what will be the price to be paid to have health care for all Americans. One thing is for sure is that jobs in IT for health care will be growing since there are mandates at the federal and state level for all offices that accept payments from the government will have to be on some sort of electronics medical records platform. This is meant to help cut down on billing and medical errors as well have a way that patients records can be transported more easily from one provider to the other. Many offices are putting systems in place but will need a lot of IT support to make that there systems are up to date and they have the proper safe guards in place to protect those electornic records.
