I was looking at getting a digital photo frame for my grandparents so that they could have a lot of pictures of their grand kids to look at without having a ton frames laid everywhere. You could spend $200 and get one with some internal memory but that only gets you about 256 MB which is ok, but not that great . I can get a SD Card with 1GB for less than $30 and this gives the opportunity to send them updated cards with level involvement on their part.You defintely want to make sure that you have enough computer memory so that when adding the pictures to your PC that it will be able to handle the load. It will be great to see their expression when the family pics show up on the frame.

One of the best upgrades that I made to my laptop was increasing the memory and investing in a flash drive for additional backup. I originally started out with a 8 MB flash drive and now have a 4 GB drive. It is amazing to think that this very small thumb drive has more memory than my first few PCs had. I have gotten flash drives for other family members so that I can give them the most recent pictures of the kids and this way is much more convenient than giving them a CD. Most of the flash drives today can be easily installed on laptops and PCs and have great security features in the event that you loose your drive.

The pictures on both are exceptional and really depends on the users set up and preference. There are some advantages to the LCD technology that make it some what attractive. That would be the life of the actual picture, truer blacks, and less chance of burn in. You can find horror stories all over the internet where people left a static image on their plasma screens and they had the image burned into the screen.
